NATO plans Belgian SHAPE complex as France exits
In Brussels area 40 million dollar NATO complex rises at Casteau near Mons, near Brussels. SHAPE to be operational by April 1 with radio telephony teletype and facsimile links. Main building 200 yards long with offices and quarters for soldiers of both sexes. Gen Lyman Lemnitzer to reside on site. housing planned for about 150 families in nearby towns. The site chosen near the former Brussels World Fair grounds opposite the Atomium.
