Young Married Man Admits Slaying Girl in Tiffin

In Tiffin Ohio a 23 year old son of a prominent local businessman was held without bond on a first degree murder charge in the strangulation and rape death of 16 year old Tharon Shepherd. Police say he confessed after hours of questioning claiming she might reveal his wife and family. The body was found January 9 near a sandpit two miles south of Tiffin after she disappeared three days earlier. He was arrested after being tracked to an apartment above his father's bakery. The coroner ruled death from strangulation with rape noted. He allegedly picked her up in an alley beside the bakery and the couple drove to a secluded spot where she died. A facial scratch and washing his car the day after aided the investigation.
