Building Permits Top $200000 In January
January building permits in Middletown soared above two hundred thousand dollars, reports building commissioner Orville Rson. Notable permits include an $82,500 project for United Welding Company on Lafayette Street and a $70,000 apartment building for Dave Finkelman on Grand Avenue, with smaller follow ups. The city also sees a landmark shift as a two story brick dwelling at Central and Baltimore is removed for a three business building. Mrs Bertha Bramble recalls her father William Smith who built many local landmarks and brick houses using bricks made in his yard, noting how the area has changed since the early days.
