Wet snow blanketed the Miami Valley with one to four inches. Above freezing temperatures left slushy accumulations and heavy, wet snow made shoveling difficult while children enjoyed building snowmen in the yard. Temperatures remain in the upper 20s to low 30s with intermittent flurries forecast.
On a Saturday afternoon about 500 students on the Ohio University campus formed a snowball demonstration at Union and Court Streets. Police arrested five as officers moved in with deputies and road graders were brought in to clear Court Street.

Saigon AP reports U S air activity in the Vietnam war has pivoted to Laos due to rising Communist truck movements on the Ho Chi Minh trail. About 250 fighter bombers daily target convoys and troops in eastern Laos, tripling the pace of attacks in North Vietnam and affecting neutral Laos politics.
City Commissioners voted 4-1 to repeal the 131 page zoning ordinance and map, returning control to the 1955 law. The measure, opposed by Commissioner Joe Lewis, sends the new plan back to the Planning Commission for reconsideration. Estimates say six weeks to a year before another vote.
Brown and Inwood questioned staff reasoning as the commission debated the December zoning discussions. Miss Lord urged thorough map review while Lewis urged keeping the ordinance and allowing time for planning to adjust with new members. Donhan and Denham praised a thoughtful approach.
