Police man arrested for trying to sell granddaughters in tsunami chaos
Police in Batapola Sri Lanka arrest 63 year old A H Somadasa on charges of attempting to sell his two granddaughters aged seven and nine after their home was destroyed and their mother died in the Asian tsunami. The case raises concern that traffickers exploit disaster chaos and abduct or sell orphans into forced labor or sex trade. The girls were released to their father after Somadasa appeared before a Balapitiya magistrate and posted bail.
