A blazing seaplane crashed near Wallace Lake south of Shreveport killing Braniff International Airways president Thomas Braniff and Texas Eastern president R H Hargrove along with ten passengers and two pilots returning from a duck-hunt trip. The craft struck an unoccupied house. all aboard perished. Witnesses described the aircraft losing lift to ice on the wings before the impact.

Three Injured When Bomber Crashes Into Homes
In Burbank California a converted bomber crashed and burned in a residential area injuring three people. Pilot David Thayer 35 Arcadia and co pilot Lawrence Bassett 34 Burbank suffered cuts and possible fractures while Gale Alexander 53 an aircraft mechanic sleeping in a destroyed duplex suffered critical burns. Fire Chief John O Connor of Lockheed dragged Alexander from the flames. The aircraft owned by Fullerton Oil Co. lost engine power and struck two houses a garage and a duplex causing wide damage.
