US crude imports last week fell by about 1.6 million barrels per day from early embargo levels, totaling 2.6 million bpd for the week ending Jan 4, per the American Petroleum Institute. Refined product imports hover near September levels, suggesting Arab oil may still arrive via foreign refineries and temper embargo impact. The four week average shows a slight decline vs a year ago, with price controls cited as stabilizing and likely unchanged in the near term. Arab states pledge to freeze prices through April, and William Simon notes no planned rise in domestic crude prices.
