Ten days before Christmas seven year old Todd Gibbs and four year old Kevin Gibbs lost their upstairs home and Christmas tree in a downtown Middletown fire on December 14 at 1363 Central Ave. The family relocated to Woodridge East Apartments on Roosevelt Ave with help totaling about 310 in cash and in-kind aid from Middletown firemen Armco Holy Trinity School and local workers and businesses. The mother Rita Gibbs expressed thanks while noting her husband died in a truck accident in October and she has been laid off from Kroger's in Springdale.

Civilians Die as Civilian-Centered Attacks Rise in South Vietnam

Seoul Saigon command reports eight civilians killed and 32 wounded in shelling of a provincial capital and three district towns in the Mekong Delta over the past night. Civilian casualties since Sunday total 23 killed and 86 wounded amid renewed Communist attacks.

Two More Aircraft Are Lost In Indochina

SAIGON AP The U S Command announced the loss of a fighter bomber over North Vietnam and a helicopter in South Vietnam just below the DMZ. All eight Americans aboard were missing raising total U S losses in Indochina since Dec 18 to 38 aircraft. The command also said 107 Americans have been killed captured or missing in these crashes amid ongoing heavy air strikes in four North Vietnamese panhandle provinces.

Syria Receives 18 MiG Jets From Soviet Union

U S intelligence says the Soviet Union delivered 18 MiG fighters to Syria last month in what is called the largest shipment of Russian war materiel to Syria in 1972. The batch includes 16 MiG 21s, two MiG 17s and four helicopters, bringing total MiG 21s to about 36 in 1971.
