Popcorn Crisis Affects Ohio Growers in 1970 Outlook
Dewey Kennedy of Pleasantville, Perry County, chairs the Popcorn Division of the Ohio Agricultural Marketing Association warns that Ohio growers, who produced 58 million pounds on 20 000 acres last year, need higher prices as costs rose over three years. He says processors should not expect farmers to keep growing popcorn amid declining prices and rising costs, urging a price increase for 1970. The association is affiliated with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, aiding national popcorn marketing divisions in five states.
