Valley View Ends 1977 With $25,000 Surplus

Valley View School District closed 1977 with just over 25 thousand dollars in general funds, enough to cover about two days of operating at 12 thousand daily expenditures. A January 15 payroll delay and state receipts helped avoid a deficit, while electricity and fuel overruns prompted budget overages. New board members were sworn in and faced a pay-for-board-votes debate, settling 3-2 in favor of allowing compensation up to per-meeting limits. The board scheduled monthly meetings, appointed Buehner to the Athletic Council, and hired Juliette Draffen as a substitute teacher for college peers classes at the high school.
