Police say three gunmen invaded the South Side Akron home of Carter Hughley and his wife Tuesday night stealing cash, bonds, and jewelry valued at over 50000. A gun battle erupted after two holdups in Delaware and Pennsylvania. Trooper Ronald L. Carey died from chest wounds at Wilmington General Hospital after being shot with a .38 revolver.
A 17 year old girl survived a crash in the Peruvian jungle on Christmas Eve. She walked, swam flooded areas, built a log raft, and reached a woodcutter camp after 11 days. She was flown to a mission center at Pucallpa and reunited with her father.
