Investigation Continued In Childs Death
Funeral services were held today for eight year old Sheila Ann Tuley as authorities continued their probe into whether her death on New Year’s night was murder possibly by a maniac or juvenile delinquent. Coroner S R Gerber announced after a conference with Detective Lt David E Kerr that all agree the death was murder though the police keep an open mind about a traffic accident. No promising leads after 72 hours of detective work. Sheila’s body was found on a neighbor’s porch hours after her father sent her to a drug store. Seven wounds on her head and back were seen and reportedly caused by a bayonet like knife. Inspector Michael J Blackwell said he has never seen a more baffling case and noted a lack of motive in a knife murder in 116 years.

Accidental shooting ruled in Middletown case
Virgil Rose 31 of 1116 Garfield St is listed in fair condition at Middletown Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police say the wound occurred during a gun trade with his brother in law Harlan Deaton, a 22 year old from Hazard Ky, who fled after the incident. Rose and his wife Ruth, the sole witness, maintain the shooting was accidental. Detectives hold both guns involved.
