Return to basics called as Middletown schools face repairs and enrollment drop
A community study for Middletown and Monroe urges repairs totaling 2.2 million with 1.5 million labeled critical. The report warns declining births will shrink enrollment to about 10,341 by 1981, prompting potential school closings and major reorganizations while stressing multi field teaching and careful public relations as tax support wanes.
