January 1 1978 facts and birthdays noted
A compact historical calendar marks January 1 as a new year origin for the Papacy in 1622 and events through 1959. It notes Paul Revere's birth in Boston in 1735, Homestead Act in 1863, Australia proclaimed in 1901, France joins UN in 1945, Castro era in 1959, plus past and present policy tweaks and birthdays of J D Salinger and Xavier Cugat. It ends with a thought on resolutions and a mispunctuated line about anonymity.
