Cincinnati Fire Kills One and Injures Dozen
One person died in a three story brick building fire in Cincinnati west end, with 12 others injured. Willie Gaston 26 and two children Michael 242 and Vanessa one month old were hurt when the father jumped from a third floor window. Mrs Gaston was bruised sliding down a drainpipe to safety. Fire officials believed 1% residents were asleep when the blaze started. five were rescued from the flames. The Gaston family and Howard Upshaw awoke to shouting from a first floor tenant. unable to use stairs they slid down the pipe as Gaston leaped out with the children. Gaston back injured. Helen Lewis 39 suffered possible fracture leaping from a second floor window along with Henry Lewis 33 and Miss Elizabeth Grey 20 who was burned on the forehead and ankle.
