Tax Exemption for E Bonds Faces Small Investor Barriers

A Washington columnist argues tax exemption on E bonds would not boost sales among small savers. Treasury spokesmen say most small buyers already effectively receive tax relief, and exempting bonds could erode current policy favoring upper-income investors. The piece notes that mass-market bonds rely on simplicity and cautions against tax concessions that could lead to broader abatements. Also included are notices of divorce petition and probate appointments from Butler County Ohio with stake dates and attorneys.
