The winter storm that blanketed the state Sunday moved east of the area and now sits over Western Pennsylvania. The state reports a trace to four inches of snow with strong winds causing considerable blowing and drifting.
Skies clear tonight with lows around 10 degrees in Middletown. Highs near 30s on Tuesday and a 28 degree high yesterday. Snow measuring 3.5 inches was recorded. Extended outlook shows fair skies Wednesday and a chance of rain Thursday with temperatures in the 30s to 40s.
A Columbus woman Alberta Hill, 41, died of smoke inhalation in a car engine fire. Benjamin Feld, 68, perished when his Akron cleaning business building burned. Josie Jones, of South Amherst, died from burns after a coal stove exploded last month. Temperatures dropped to single digits with more snow expected.
Herbert W. Kalmbach former Nixon attorney pleads guilty to a DC distribution of 3.9 million to Republican candidates in 1970. He also pleads to a misdemeanor for promising an ambassadorship to a donor. Symington contributed 100 000 if appointed and later kept money. Kalmbach may cooperate and testify in future trials.
John K. Andrews Jr., a former White House speechwriter who resigned last December, told a television program taped for broadcast tonight that he believes President Nixon should be impeached.
Off duty police and firefighters surrounded Cleveland City Hall blocking entrances and snarling traffic. Observers estimate hundreds of demonstrators, some in uniform, while city officials were largely unreachable. The protest centered on grievances including Mayor Perk and hospitalizations funded by the council.
FTC chairman Engman says food and energy are top targets for further antitrust enforcement as inflation pressures persist.
