Campaign To Save Artifacts From Keban Dam Area
In Ankara a campaign to rescue archeological relics in the upper Euphrates Valley begins as Keban Dam floods the area in 1970. Turkey seeks 4 million lira for rapid excavation of about 50 mounds, with 2 million more planned next year, to study sites possibly dating back 12 000 years while awaiting details from the United States Britain and West Germany on support.
