Sheppard Wife Plan To Hear Court Appeal
Dr Samuel H Sheppard and his wife planned to travel to Washington by car to attend the U S Supreme Court hearing of his new appeal from a murder conviction. He was convicted of second degree murder for the slaying of Marilyn Sheppard in their home on July 4 1954. He contends the trial was unfair due to publicity. He had been freed in 1964 after a federal judge ruled constitutional rights were violated, then remarried a German divorcee. The 65th Circuit ordered him back to prison last May and placed him on bond with Ohio travel limits before granting permission to travel to Washington for the Supreme Court arguments.
