Progress Made In Converting Water

Researchers at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus report advances in turning sea water into affordable fresh water. Cost drops from 4 to 5 dollars per thousand gallons in 1952 to about 1.25 today, with potential to reach 50 cents per thousand at 10 million gallons daily. Solar distillation offers a cheap option requiring large land areas, suitable for desert regions.
