The Job Opportunity Committee aims to place more Middletown area youths in paid non profit and community jobs in 1973. A $60,000 fundraising goal supports wages. last year 222 of 563 applicants found positions. Local firms, Armco Steel, YMCA and agencies provide work with Guidance by local organizations.

Hanoi Hilton music man finds new rhythm at Wright Patterson
Dayton POW Capt. Edward Mechenbier and Maj. Donald Heiliger arrived at Wright Patterson Air Force Base aboard a C-9 medical transport. Heiliger, once Hanoi Hilton music instructor, and Mechenbier, shot down over North Vietnam, were welcomed by about 50 people as the fourth and fifth returning POWs for medical exams and debriefings. Mechenbier awaits new eyeglasses after his originals were broken in 1967. both men are in generally good health with minor needs noted by base officials.
