A Brooklyn federal court order bars the flight engineers union from striking or refusing assignments until Feb 2 6, with a hearing set for Feb 27 on Pan American’s injunction. He warns the Soviet Union against direct intervention and seeks a stronger U N policy while Ghana’s Nkrumah proposes an all African U N command to disarm Congolese troops and return stability.
In Leopoldville the UN reports interior minister Gbenye from Lumumba's brief Stanleyville regime is under UN guard with his wife and secretary to dodge arrest. Chaos among Lumumba loyalties continues as warrants, arrests, and counterarrests unfold involving Anicet Kashamura and other officials in Kivu and Oriental provinces.
