Accra Ghana The Ghanaian Times reports the government will discontinue the U S Peace Corps at the end of the current contract with the United States Education Minister Alfred Dowuena Hammond attributed the move. About 139 volunteers including 118 teachers and 21 geologists finish tours by July 1965.
Chicago Cubs second baseman Ken Hubbs 22 and his friend Dennis Doyle 23 were killed when their single engine plane crashed into Utah Lake near Provo after leaving Provo to head home for Colton California. Hubbs rookie of the year 1962 set fielding records and played 78 straight games without an error. Both men had studied at Brigham Young University and were returning from a church sponsored basketball tournament.
Secretary of State Dean Rusk said American consumers might retaliate against British firms selling to Cuba but the government will not organize a boycott. A head on collision on Old Mansfield road five miles north of Mount Vernon killed Virgil Neal Pierce 23 of Lexington and an infant girl Christine Boner one year old daughter of Franklin Boner Mount Gilead. Christine died at Children's Hospital Columbus hours after the crash.
