Local Donors Give 136 Pints To Bloodmobile
Local Red Cross volunteers collected 136 pints yesterday at the bloodmobile held at the Legion Home. Mrs Ila Hammons said 52 volunteers contributed 261 hours of service and donors waited only 45 to 60 minutes from registration to refreshments. The Red Cross program has collected four million pints in four years, with 1.5 million pints donated for Korea since the war began 18 months ago. About 160,000 pints went to the Far East as whole blood and the rest to plasma. Despite gains, national blood collection remains below quota as servicemen urge larger donations.
