Coal shortages threaten CG&E power as 25 percent cut planned
Cincinnati Gas & Electric warns a 25 percent daily coal cutback may start this weekend as reserves hover around 40 days and daily consumption remains high. Officials say trucks and barges will deliver about 4 000 tons daily while other utilities supply 20 percent of needs. If reserves fall to 30 days, a 50 percent collapse could trigger residential outages, though some doubt that inevitability.
