Budget balance seen for 1971 and 1972 in Middletown
City Manager Dale Helsel predicts a balanced budget for 1971 and 1972 driven by economies. The general fund would run about 4.3 million dollars, up eight percent from last year due to higher salaries, with unknowns like income tax revenue and investment returns. Helsel cautions against relying on current receipts and foresees a difficult year in 1973. He expects possible state tax changes and notes gradual funding for air pollution programs and a city wide curb gutter street plan for 1972 73 with federal aid potential.
