Experts Blame Air Mass Battle For Unseasonable Weather
Weather experts say two stubborn high pressure systems from Canada and the Caribbean collided after Thanksgiving, driving cold, snowy winters in the West while the East stayed mild. Namias and colleagues expect a westward shift of patterns with rougher conditions in the Pacific and a gradual East cooling toward February.

CIO Presses Pension Plan for Ford Workers Across Border
Windsor Ontario and Detroit will see parallel UAW efforts to win a pension and medical care program for Ford workers. Walter Reuther told Ford of Canada employees that about 12,500 Canadian and 120,000 U.S. workers would be covered, with aims to retire at 60 for $100 monthly and a funded medical program. He proposed setting aside five percent of auto payrolls for benefits, citing Kaiser-Frazer as precedent. The drive is described as the highest in 12 years, with cross-border bargaining to begin this week. The Hassayampa River of Arizona is noted for a legend about truth.

AFL Studies Way To Rid Unions In Canada Of Red Influences
MIAMI FL AP The Executive Council of the American Federation of Labor debated methods to remove Communist influence from Canadian unions. The major policy decision was whether to readmit the Machinists Union with 600000 members as an AFL affiliate. Officials sought to finish work quickly to focus on labor law changes in Congress amid a dispute between Percy Bengough and Frank Hall over militant anti communist action. An AFL drafting panel including Meany Hutcheon and Harrison prepared a Canadian resolution that favored Hall. The Machinists left the AFL three years earlier over jurisdiction and now seek reentry while Hutcheson reportedly wants broader jurisdiction.
