Two escapees from a Southwest Virginia camp barged into the Worley Sturgill home near the Kentucky border and held the family—Sturgill, his wife Mary Kay, and their three children—for about three hours before surrendering to police. James Erps, 38, and Robert Charles Blanchard, 21, were charged with holding hostages, being fugitives, and possessing illegal firearms after Kentucky trooper Tom Wright verified their surrender. Erps faced a 10 year sentence for breaking and entering, Blanchard 15 years for armed robbery.
