Col. Raymond J. Fening, just retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years, reunites with James J. Guyler head of Guyler Buick Co. once classmates at Hamilton Catholic High. The two worked to reconnect during a bus iness meeting while Fening’s family lives in Thorny Acres. A perpetual Fening trophy was unveiled at Ft Schuyler in the Bronx as Col. Fening’s successor Lt Col Alexander Svirchev took command.

Woman Slain in Woodsfield as Husband Wounds and Flees
Mrs Virginia McCammon of Woodsfield was shot to death on Wednesday while moving belongings from her estranged husband Lee McCammon's home. Deputy Lawrence Jones, who accompanied her, found Lee with a shotgun near the body. Jones was outside when the shooting occurred. Lee McCammon fled but was wounded by a shot from Jones and admitted to Barnesville Hospital. Sheriff F L Sulsberger said the divorce was in progress and deputies had accompanied Mrs McCammon on several trips due to fear for her life.

Farmer Suffocates in Stubble Burn Near Plain City
In London Ohio AP reports an elderly man Charles E Roby age 80 suffocated after setting fire to corn rubble in a burned field near Plain City in northern Madison County He died Wednesday night with about 80 percent of his body burned officials said the cause of death is suffocation.

Youngsters Rescue 2 From Pool In Cincinnati
In Cincinnati AP report a 3 year old James Byrd and 2 year old Kenneth Freel Jr fell into three feet of water at a private pool in an apartment center. They crawled under a fence to reach the pool. James suffered a skull fracture and was in critical condition. Kenneth was unhurt. Two neighbor boys Richard Waggoner and Joey Jones, ages 5 and 6, heard shouts and rescued them.

Middletown Court Hears Six Month Jail Term For Brother-in-law Assault
Alfred Lee Peck, 22, was found guilty of striking his sister in law Olla Hicks with a 27 inch board and received six months in jail. Five months were suspended on conditions he stay away from Hicks. Hicks, 23, was treated and released from Middletown Hospital after the incident. Peck was arrested January 25 after attacking Hicks as she drove away.

Gratis Blast Victim Okay at Middletown Hospital
Norma's Diner owner Chester Boomershine of Gratis was burned when a propane gas leak caused a stove explosion Monday morning. He was alone, fled to his home, then collapsed. the blast damaged a plate glass window but caused limited interior damage. He remains in good condition at Middletown Hospital.
