City Commission Deliberates On Electric Permit Rates

An hour long meeting produced no decision on how the city will regulate electrical work. About half of the 22 licensed electricians attended with building commissioner Orville Corson urging permits based on circuit counts, a method he says would curb uninspected work. Several contractors argued for outlet based fees or contested current charges of 3 75 per circuit. The commission asked Corson to compile data on fees and cost of a full time inspector.
