Energetic idea short on fuel

In NEW KNOXVILLE Ohio Eldon Haberkamp and his brother Adrian drilled a home grown natural gas and oil well to heat their shop and earn income. The first Auglaize County well near Neil Armstrong County Airport produced about a barrel and a half daily but gas pressure and oil output are steadily declining. They may pump until spring then pull the casing and shut the well if costs and yields don’t improve.

Cold windy weather with flurries from a southern low

A low pressure center moving into Ohio will bring windy cold conditions with a 30 percent chance of snow flurries tonight and 40 percent on Wednesday. Overnight lows near 31 and highs around 20 are expected with continued cold temperatures into the extended outlook through Saturday.

Fort Lewis enforces mandatory running for all troops

General Volney Warner declares a two mile run program at Fort Lewis a success with 15 000 soldiers including Women's Air Corps and staff taking part. Clerks and office staff run two miles twice weekly while hardened combat units run up to five miles with gas masks. Warner says morale esprit de corps and readiness improve and no heart attacks have occurred. Female and male runners now train together and most participants approve of the program.
