Gals Go To Town Men To Suburbs Dr Thompson Says

Oxford Special Dr Warren Thompson of Miami University reports Ohio census data show migration patterns that favor younger female residents remaining in cities while surrounding areas gain older male residents. He notes 1940 figures reveal 147000 moving between cities and rings, with 124000 leaving cities for rings and 23000 vice versa. The net effect: metropolitan zones gain young women and more influence, while cities send out older men, altering population balance.
