Snowstorm and bitter cold overwhelm Butler County roads

A major winter storm rolls through Butler County with 6 to 10 inches of snow on Wednesday and totals up to 15 to 20 inches as the system continues into Friday. Snow plow crews in Carlisle Middletown Franklin Monroe and Trenton work around the clock using trucks brine and salt to keep major routes passable amid hazardous drifting conditions. Countywide level 2 snow emergency remains in effect with officials urging motorists to stay off roads.

Explosions in Mosul Kill 22 as Attacker Likely blows Vest

U S officials say a death by own action attacker wearing an explosive filled vest likely caused the Mosul mess tent blast that killed 22, including 14 U S troops and four civilian contractors. FBI forensic work found torso parts and an explosive belt. Military and police swarmed mosques bridges and checkpoints as insurgent leaders were hunted. A second car bomb near Latifiya wounded and killed additional Iraqis.

Watts final person seen with slain Middletown woman

Detective said Rodney Watts 41 was the last person seen with Carl Roberts alive on Dec 11 into Dec 12 at the Ranch Inn in Middletown. He faces a tampering with evidence charge as police say he supervised cleanup after Roberts’s stabbing and led authorities to the body.
