Tanzania Puts Forward Beach Resort Drive in Tourism Push
Tanzania unveils three coast projects to broaden tourism beyond safari fare. The Africana near Kunduchi is a 40 acre beach hotel costing 1.106 million dollars with a sunken bar pool. Bahari Beach Hotel rises on the coast replacing The Inn by the Sea, funded by Tanzania Development Finance. A Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Mafia Island fishing lodge plus Zanzibar Beach hotel are also planned to diversify the sector. The program targets late 1970s arrivals and boosts a 15 percent growth rate.
