Cape Canaveral AP Skybolt missile on a B52 test flight flew seven miles high and 500 feet drop before stage ignition. Although slated for retirement in talks this week Air Force plans to keep test missiles for potential revival. The rocket climbed to 300 miles before diving into the Atlantic about 900 miles downrange.
London reports say Prime Minister Harold Macmillan faced sharp cross party criticism over Britain shifting from Skybolt to Polaris missiles in a deal with President Kennedy. Labour and some Conservatives planned major attacks, arguing the move wastes Skybolt money and risks nuclear independence.
Nassau Bahamas AP report says Kennedy and Macmillan offered France the Polaris option without warheads to join a Western nuclear defense club. De Gaulle’s acceptance determines if the Nassau pact becomes a united NATO force or remains a British American fix for Skybolt. Awaiting his decision, France holds the key.

In Jerusalem AP reports 5600 Israeli Christians mainly Arabs will visit religious shrines in the Jordan section of the Holy Land. About 2600 will cross the armistice line to Bethlehem and other holy sites. denominations include Protestants Roman Catholics Greek Orthodox and Armenians.
Two military school cadets Ben Henderson and Frank Flicker along with stewardess Pat Reed opened exits and guided 40 passengers and crew of three from a burning Frontier Airlines plane at Grand Island Airport. Five hospitalized, all in good condition. Pilot Joe Romano warned of ground fog before the rough landing and plane flipped after skid about a half mile from the runway.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals directed the Justice Department to seek criminal contempt against Mississippi Governor Ross Barnett and Lieutenant Governor Paul Johnson Jr. for blocking enrollment of a Negro at the University of Mississippi last September. The court already convicted them of civil contempt. criminal penalties could include jail and large fines.
John J. Lindsay, 47, of Bowling Green died in a one car crash on U S 25 near Bowling Green shortly after midnight. He was believed to have been alone in the vehicle when it left the road about three miles south of Prairiesburg, according to the Highway Patrol.
Cuban exile families in Miami await clarity after news that Fidel Castro signed a deal with James Donovan to free 1,113 prisoners in exchange for $53 million in medicines and food. Exiles caution that past promises failed. Prisoners to be flown to Homestead Sunday with health checks, money, clothing, and family reunions pending arrival.
In Nashville, a federal court jury of six women and six men prepared to resume deliberations in the Hoffa conspiracy trial after a rest. Judge William E. Miller had given the panel three and a half hours to discuss the case and recessed overnight when no verdict came. Hoffa, head of the Teamsters Union, faces a two count indictment alleging conspiracy to violate the Taft Hartley Act by taking undercover payments from a Michigan transport firm.
At the United Nations Valerian Zorin accused the United States of subversion as Adlai Stevenson defended the Congo mission led by Lt. Gen Louis W. Truman. The eight man force aimed to support Secretary General U Thant's plan to end Katanga secession.
Cape Town residents in Camps Bay woke to a red sea after dye was released to study inshore currents for a proposed new sewage disposal project. The dye appeared Friday prompting inquiries into the incident and its role in the project plans.
