Typhoon Ruth a giant Pacific storm six hundred miles across with central winds of 150 mph churned northeast today on a course that could miss the battered Iwo Jima garrison and its U S Air Force unit.
Vic Raschi former Yankee pitching star reported he recovered 40000 worth of nonnegotiable securities lost Thursday. He declined to name the finder but said a telephone call informed him the bonds were found. He thinks they dropped from his pocket when he was exiting his car in Rochester. Raschi lives about 30 miles south of the city.
Rep. Jim Morrow to ask the Legislature to revoke the invitation to Rev. Alvin Kershaw for Religious Emphasis Week at the University of Mississippi. The move follows the university board's adjournment without action and draws support from other officials.

Negotiations between U S Ambassador A Alexis Johnson and Chinese envoy Wang Ping-nan focus on repatriations and other disputes, with an accord on allowing willing nationals to return.
Three U S Marines rescued twenty two Korean seamen off the southeast coast of Korea after their patrol boat ran aground in heavy seas and 30 mph winds. Marines Pfc Alton R Adams and Cpl Robert L Patton were flown to shore after transferring to a derrick ship and helicopter lifts continued for eighty minutes to complete the rescue with multiple trips.

In Vandergrift Pennsylvania a 17 year old John Fallone died after a 16 hour manhunt and gun battle with a posse. He killed three people and wounded two others including his girlfriend Gladys Smail who was in critical condition. Policeman Gus Zanos was wounded but survived. Fallone was found with a 22 caliber rifle and 500 rounds. he died without regaining consciousness.
Steubenville Ohio Rob ert Reider a Port Clinton Democrat and frequent Lausche critic announced last night he would run for governor at a northern Ohio Democratic chairmen meeting. He a newspaper publisher called Lausche a dictator and said he is destroying the Democratic Party in Ohio. Reider noted Lausche may seek other offices but did not confirm plans. He also offered to allow his name to be used as a favorite son candidate for the presidency.
In Columbus Ohio a 4 year old boy named Billy Hawkins cut down a young cedar tree in his backyard after believing his father would bring a promised Christmas tree. He used a small saw from his tool kit to complete the act.
Atami Japan witness reports U S Navy crewmen wrecking a hotel and aquarium front door, throwing furniture and six rowboats, damaging the dolphin exhibit after a rain storm. Police photographed wreckage as Navy ships Nos 412 Walter C Wann and 414 Le Ray Wilson anchored in Atami Bay.
