Hartack Reaches 4000th Victory At Tropical Park
Jockey Bill Hartack extended his long career by riding Roart to victory in the six furlong seventh race at Tropical Park, then tumbling from the saddle after the finish. He ignored a bruised side from a starting-gate collision and moved from last to first, becoming the fifth American to reach 4000 career wins. Hartack, 38, has previously won the Kentucky Derby five times and the national riding title four times, with multiple Derby, Preakness, and Belmont successes. He was taken by ambulance to the track infirmary after the celebration.
