A House Un American Activities Committee member said a report shows details of the Norden bomb sight leaking to Russian representatives as early as 1938. The unnamed member indicated the report was obtained orally by a committee investigator and the panel is pursuing it.
WASHINGTON AP A man suspected of stealing pre war Army secrets handed to Russia may be hailed before House Un American Activities hearings this week. Secrets reportedly from Aberdeen proving ground north of Baltimore include formulae and data on hitting and defending power. Mundt said broad committee support exists for a Washington Soviet espionage ring. The panel will seek witnesses including Chambers as a new grand jury takes over the probe tomorrow.
Fremont Ohio AP says the reward for Arthur Benner Jr. of Detroit for the murder of Patrolman George Biggs on November 3 rose to 950 dollars. Postmaster F J Daubel donated 100 dollars to the fund which began with 500 dollars from the city. additional 50 and 300 dollars came from the United Automobile Workers Union and Tony's Bakery.

Russia cast its twenty ninth veto in the United Nations Security Council to keep Ceylon from joining the UN. It was the second veto on Ceylon’s bid, part of 13 of 29 Soviet votes used to bar seven countries from membership. Action on Israel’s membership was postponed until Friday.

Castaneda, elected in 1945 after the 1944 coup, faced backlash over extending his term and a plan for a regional federation of Central American nations.
