FAA requests full report on a near collision series

The FAA seeks a comprehensive investigators report after a string of near collisions on busy air routes. The latest involved Eastern Flight 185 a 727 and an Air Force F101 near Richmond Virginia at 19 000 feet. No injuries were reported and investigators will review radio tapes radar and control data.

Mayor and police chief admit kickback scheme in Yorkville gambling case

In U S District Court, Mayor Lawrence Corvi and Police Chief Louis Gaudio pleaded guilty to conspiring to obstruct Ohio gambling laws. They admitted sharing $250 monthly kickbacks from operators James Mills and Ollie Pratt who ran the Yorkville News gambling parlor on the Jefferson Belmont county line. Mills and Pratt also admitted operating a gambling site using slot machines and football parlay betting. Judge Robert M. Duncan ordered presentence reports. Corvi and Gaudio remain free on recognizance bonds.
