Violence Commission Turns In Final Report
Washington AP Eight months after its creation the National Violence Commission released a 388 page final report urging a 20 billion dollar annual spending increase to curb domestic ills. Chairman Milton S Eisenhower said the panel hopes its 100 recommendations become policy within years and noted substantial funding must wait until Vietnam and inflation efforts end. The commission linked ghettos to violent crime and stressed investing in family and community programs. Created by Lyndon B Johnson in 1968 after Robert Kennedy's assassination the panel warned progress will be costly and time consuming.
