Governors Survey Agnew Asset To Nixon
Nation’s Republican governors praise Agnew as an asset to the Nixon administration while some dissent on his attacks on network news. A survey of 25 governors during the Republican Governors Association meeting finds 23 view him positively, with Oregon’s Tom McCall and Washington’s Daniel Evans offering limited or cautious support. Governor Rhodes says Agnew is an asset but avoids endorsing his criticism of news coverage. Indiana's Whitcomb questions if Agnew boosts Nixon, noting popularity may rise regardless of the vice president.
