Decision On Raceway Is Due In January

Lebanon. The trial ended at 1 p.m. yesterday but Warren County Common Pleas Judge Lucian Young will not rule on control of the Lebanon Raceway until late January. The dispute pits two partnerships over leasehold rights to the raceway. The Lebanon Trotting Association, hosting racing at the fairgrounds for 20 years, clashes with the Lebanon Trotting Club seeking to replace it. Louis Carlo, nephew of John Carlo, a Lebanon Trotting Association majority stockholder, helped form the new club. John Carlo says the association's partnership will dissolve this year, while Dr. Peter L. Batista of Buffalo says the partnership remains valid and renewable. Judge Young will decide whether the Lebanon Trotting Association terminates this year and who gets the lease. In June, the Warren County Agriculture Society, which runs the fairgrounds, approved a six-year lease with the Lebanon Trotting Club, renewable up to 11 years.
