Miner Body Sighted as Rescue Continues at Frosty Run
An advance rescue team sighted the body of one of 37 miners trapped 650 feet underground after a coal mine explosion at U S Steel Robena No 3 in Frosty Run. The body lay about 4,000 feet from the blast site. officials said it would be some time before reaching it. The rescue operation, now in its third day, faces methane gas, fires, rock falls, and a rebuilt ventilation system as crews work through the long corridor two miles from the vertical shaft.
