Militants Attack U S Consulate in Jiddah Saudi Arabia
Militants lobbed explosives and stormed the U S consulate in Jiddah causing a four hour standoff. Eight people died including five consulate staff. three attackers also died. Saudi security forces detained two attackers as gunbattles ended the siege. The attack drew a sharp warning from President Bush and followed al Qaida linked violence over two years.
