Middletown Symphony Opens 1970 71 Season With Highley Spotlight
The Middletown Symphony opened its 1970 71 season with Orlandus Gibbons pieces and a Verdi aria duet featuring Ronald and Joanne Highley of the Kansas City Lyric Opera Co. The concert at Finkelman Auditorium highlighted a clear staccato in Fantasia and a warm Rusalka and Der Freischutz excerpts. The Highleys delivered dramatic Verdi and Holst selections with notable orchestral support. the hall filled with their vibrant, powerful singing and refined instrumental backing.
