Monroe Vote Ted Brown Would Avoid Case Service

Ted W. Brown secretary of state filed with the Butler County clerk a motion to quash service of summons in the Monroe local option contest. A prior suit claimed eligible voters were disenfranchised and sought service on the secretary to prevent certifying the final vote which showed 458 for the sale and 469 against with Warren County as the deciding factor. The state’s motion argues the petition does not state any action by the secretary that would bring him under the court’s jurisdiction. No hearing date set.
