Army kettles begin Christmas drive in Middletown
Salvation Army kettles start their Christmas campaign with five downtown stations in Middletown. The Women’s Auxiliary chair, Mrs. Clarence Mers, says the fund drive runs through December 9 with two hour shifts for volunteers, aided by the Junior Auxiliary. Officials aim to distribute 450 baskets and reach a $5,000 goal through kettle receipts and private gifts. Captain Kenneth Sharp notes the total relies on both kettle funds and gifts.
