A Cincinnati family faces a $28,418 bill for seven year old Robin Adams’ Guillain Barre syndrome. Blue Cross Southwest Ohio paid $28,076.50 for 120 days, leaving $341.60. Major charges include room, central supply, inhalation therapy, ICU time, oxygen, labs, x rays and drugs. The case highlights the high cost of long hospital care and its impact on a family. In Michigan a Blue Cross member has already accumulated $87,000 in care for the same condition and remains hospitalized.
