The transfer occurred at the Enns River bridge this morning after Barsov and navigator Lt Peter Pirigov crash landed at Linz last October while plans to flee Russia. Senate Moves Bill For 75 Cents Minimum Wage
The Senate pressed for a vote on a bill setting a 75 cent per hour minimum wage, aiming to override the current 40 cent standard. Major debate centered on Ellender’s 65 cent until end of 1950 amendment with later provisions tying future levels to living costs. Senators Pepper and Taft argued the measure would leave gaps or expand exemptions, while Holland and colleagues contended the changes would clarify coverage for small businesses and restore Congress's original intent.
