Ohio veteran services funds left unspent across counties

Officials failed to provide a study by deadline showing widespread underuse of about 0.5 mills in county property tax funding for veterans. The proposal highlights Ohio's near 900,000 veterans and notes only 56 million of 121 million allocated in 2011 was spent. In Butler and Warren, over 6 million was available in 2012 but just over 2.3 million was used to aid veterans.

City Behind Schedule Aims to Meet Demolition Grant Deadline

The city lies behind schedule on demolishing 89 homes with about 215 more to go before grant funds run out on December 31. The program, part of Moving Ohio Forward, combines $2.4 million city money with $1.1 million in matching funds to demolish vacant properties.
